Protecting your property records with integrity, modernization, and transparency — for every homeowner and family in New Castle County.
The Recorder of Deeds manages the official repository for all New Castle County land transactions, mortgages, and property records. It is the legal foundation of your homeownership — and it deserves a leader who will modernize, secure, and open it to every resident.
Safeguarding your property records against deed fraud, scams, and unauthorized transfers — with modern fraud-alert systems that work for everyone.
Streamlining online access so homeowners, attorneys, and businesses can search and file records faster — without navigating outdated systems.
Reducing processing times and administrative friction for local businesses, first-time buyers, and every family navigating a real estate transaction.
David Tackett has spent his entire life in New Castle County — and his entire career in service to it. A Newark resident and father of four daughters, David has dedicated himself to transparent, responsive local government as the elected Councilman for District 11, where he has championed public safety, open space preservation, and expanded senior services.
From his years on the New Castle County Planning Board to his leadership of the Varlano Civic Association and the 7&40 Alliance, David has consistently shown up for his community. His work advocating for neighborhood improvement districts, park safety, and expanded services reflects the kind of ground-level accountability the Recorder of Deeds office needs.
As a longtime Amtrak employee since 1991 and past union officer with Local 1284 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, David understands institutional responsibility, public accountability, and the importance of keeping complex systems running reliably for the people who depend on them.
